The international Hollywood Music Workshop, founded in 2009 by Hollywood concert master Dimitrie Leivici and musical actress Lilo Bellotto, has been taking place in the Congress Center Baden since 2014 with great support from the state of Lower Austria and the municipality of Baden. In the course of Baden’s anniversary, the Finnish composer and workshop participant Rolf Gustavson created a hymn for Baden with “Sky over Baden”. Mayor Stefan Szirucsek (ÖVP) recently took over the score in the town hall and was looking forward to “many, many performances”.
The piece was professionally recorded in the ballroom of Casino Baden, and Hollywood composer Anne-Kathrin Dern was also present at the celebrations as a special guest of honour.
Hollywood Music Workshop celebrates 15th anniversary
Dimitrie Leivici, concert violinist and studio musician from Los Angeles founded and successfully continued this project in 2009 together with the moderator Lilo Bellotto. Since then, well-known lecturers from Hollywood have held annual courses in the field of film music.
A well-known name in this genre is Conrad Pope (My week with Marilyn) – composer, orchestrator and a close collaborator of five-time Oscar winner John Williams (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and many more), who will perform in the Musikverein Wr. Musikverein the Wr. Philharmoniker conducted. Also in demand are Grammy winners Nan Schwartz (Here’s that Rainy Day), Amy Andersson (Women Warriors) and John Lunn (Donwton Abbey). A five-day program has now become a range of courses that stretches over a month, to which composers travel from all over the world.
Hollywood anniversary concert
The international Hollywood Music Workshop has been taking place in Baden since 2014, and since 2015 it has also held an annual concert here. And this year not only the workshop celebrated its 15th anniversary, but also Disney & Wr. Bros. their 100th anniversary. For this reason, the orchestra of the Hollywood Music Workshop recently played popular film music in the ballroom of Casino Baden, including music from Jurassic Park, Harry Potter and Out of Africa. Soprano Arabella Fenyves sang popular melodies such as “Beauty and the Beast” or “Moon River” and led through the atmospheric evening with projections.
The municipality of Baden is supporting the Hollywood Music Workshop with 10,000 euros this year.
