Daddy heart and soul
The star of action blockbusters like “Central Intelligence”, “Fast & Furious 8” and “Rampage – Big Meets Bigger” apparently takes this role very seriously. The father of three often posts scenes with his children. Most recently, he shared photos of his daughter Tiana’s fourth birthday in mid-April. “My greatest joy is being your father,” he wrote alongside a series of pictures from their children’s party.
In addition to Tiana, Johnson and his wife Lauren have a second daughter together – six-year-old Jasmine. From his first marriage to the film producer Dany Garcia comes daughter Simone Alexandra (20), who follows her father into the business as a wrestler.
When Johnson unveiled a star plaque on Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame” in 2017, the entire blended family was there. At the time, the star reminisced about his money-worry youth and how he worked hard to make a career as a wrestler and actor. “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice,” he said.
The new Arnie
After his football career failed, Johnson followed his father, black professional wrestler Rocky “Soulman” Johnson, into the ring. In addition to his wrestling successes, the muscle man also appeared in front of the film cameras from 2001. Hollywood took notice after films like “The Mummy Returns” and “The Scorpion King” – Johnson performed many stunts himself and was soon celebrated as the new Arnold Schwarzenegger.
He used his muscles in action hits like “Hercules”, “San Andreas”, “Skyscraper” and the blockbuster series “Fast & Furious”. But also with humor and family fun, as in “Baywatch” and “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”, “The Rock” is well received by the fans and at the box office.
In 2016, the US magazine “People” named him the “Sexiest Man Alive”. Johnson was not only well trained, but also nice and smart, it was said to justify. “Forbes” listed him as Hollywood’s top earner in August 2020. According to the US magazine, Johnson earned an estimated $ 87.5 million (about 81.6 million euros) within twelve months. He owes his success, among other things, to a fee of 23.5 million US dollars (about 21.9 million euros) for the action film “Red Notice”.
Next on Johnson’s schedule is a Christmas comedy starring “Captain America” star Chris Evans – “Red One” is slated for a Christmas 2023 release. But he definitely won’t shoot another “Fast & Furious” episode, Johnson recently confirmed in a CNN interview. Action star Vin Diesel had asked Johnson to return in 2021 for the planned finale. Since “Fast & Furious 5” he has been part of the fast car series in the role of US agent Luke Hobbs.
“The Rock” is also doing well as an entrepreneur. In addition to his film production company, he sells a tequila spirit and is an investor in the American football league XFL. Johnson wrote on Instagram in mid-April that he wanted to offer players the opportunity to “realize their dreams” and provide for their families. He now has over 312 million followers.
