The Kesäkirja movie starring Glenn Close, based on Tove Jansson’s book, will be released in Finland in January.

Last summer, a film was filmed in Finland with a Hollywood ensemble. Now the film company SF Studios announces that Tove Jansson’s based on the work Summer book-film will be released in Finnish cinemas in January.
The film, shot in the archipelagos of Kotka, Porvoo and Espoo, among others, stars an American actor Glenn Close. A Norwegian will be seen in the second main role Anders Danielsen Lie.
In the film, Close plays a grandmother whose grandchild Sophia is played by a Finn Emily Matthews. Matthews plays his first film role in Kesäkirja.
A preview of the film has now been released in the form of an image. The picture features Close and Matthews in their roles.

The summer book will have its world premiere at the London Film Festival in October. The film will be available in Finland on January 31.
The film has been directed by Charlie McDowell and scripted Robert Jones. See you in supporting roles Pekka Strang and Sophia Heikkilä. The Finnish production company of the international co-production is Helsinki-filmi.
Summer book-film was first announced in March 2023. The producer of the Helsinki film Aleksi Bardy commented on the issue in a press release at the time.

Tove Jansson’s niece Sophia Jansson said that he was moved by the fact that the story will soon be seen on the big screen. Summer book-work was originally published in 1972.
– Summer book is beloved by many readers around the world and holds a special place in my heart. Every word of it evokes vivid childhood memories of my beloved grandmother — her voice, her way of relating to the island and moving around on the island. It is fantastic and deeply moving on a personal level to finally see this story come to life on the big screen, Sophia Jansson said in a press release last year.
During her extensive acting career, Glenn Close has been nominated for an Oscar no less than eight times. He has been awarded several Golden Globe, Tony and Emmy awards.
