American actor George Segal died on Tuesday at the age of 87. He died of complications after bypass surgery, his wife announced Deadline.
The actor started his career on the stage, but soon switched to the silver screen. Since the 1960s, he has appeared in dozens of films and series.
In 1967 he was nominated for an Oscar for his breakthrough role in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. His best-known role was as a magazine publisher on the NBC series Just Shoot Me. In the eighties and ninth, he played in the Look Who’s Talking-films.
He played in the comedy series for the last eight years The Goldbergs. The last episode of that series will air on April 7. The makers have announced that they will reflect on Segal’s death.
The actor received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2017.
