If since the beginning of December, the rate of hospitalizations has remained between 0 and 2 patients per day, this figure has skyrocketed last week, from 2 patients admitted by Covid last Monday to 12 today. “We are concerned about the rapid increase in the number of cases reaching emergency rooms and requiring hospitalization”, explains Dr Xavier Conill, deputy director general and coordinator of the centre’s Covid monitoring committee. “We need to reduce this rate of increase in cases, and that means that during the Christmas holidays we all need to be extra careful, especially when it comes to social interactions.”, adds Dr Conill. “These curves show us that when we relax the surveillance, we have an increase in the number of cases after a few days. We cannot allow the Christmas and New Year holidays to become a factor in the exponential increase in the number of cases. infections, emergencies and hospitalizations. The Cerdagne hospital maintains the ban on visits and accompanying persons, except in cases of minors and vulnerable people.
