Holiday park owner locks up burglar and holds him until police arrive

An owner of recreation park ‘t Zand on Maastrichtsebaan in Alphen personally detained a burglar on Sunday. He had been warned that there was a strange bicycle in front of a holiday home and that a window had been smashed, so he went to that house.

In the cottage, the owner of the park saw an unknown man sleeping on a bench. He then locked the door of the cottage again and called the police.

Even more burglaries
When the burglar found out, he tried to break out of the house but was unsuccessful. Officers arrested the suspect. It concerns a 40-year-old man whose whereabouts in the Netherlands are unknown.

According to the police, this suspect’s method is similar to other break-ins at holiday homes during the past week. The detectives will investigate whether this man is also responsible.

Released recently
At the police station, it turned out that the burglar had recently been released under certain conditions after being arrested for previous burglaries. One of the conditions was that he was not allowed to commit a new criminal offence.
