The municipal campsite of the Bords de Vire in Pont Farcy in La Manche is an institution. It is above all a haven of peace in the heart of the bocage, placed on the banks of the La Vire river. Spacious pitches for pitching your tent, mobile homes for rent from the beginning of April to the end of September. The manager René Vielle confides: “we have more of a transient clientele. Germans, Belgians, English. They arrive at the end of the day and leave the next morning, heading for Brittany or the south of France!
The charm of the place wins the loyalty of some campers. Joël and Sylvie are from Chinon. They spotted the place 25 years ago. Since then, they come every two years spend a short week: “Here, it’s very relaxing, the welcome is excellent and then there are a lot of possibilities for activities. Usually, I fish” indicates Joël “but as the Vire is low at the moment, we go hiking in the bocage, it’s magnificent! Or else, we’ll spend the day on the coast and come back. Not to mention Mont Saint-Michel, which isn’t very far.“
The campsite also has a common room with television, indoor games, a library and a microwave. Also sports leisure with a tennis court, mini golf, volleyball court, bowling alley, table tennis table and picnic tables for snacks.
For those nostalgic for the caravan, the campsite offers one for hire. He is innovative with a novelty, its stopover cabin with a view of the river!
René Vielle details the service: “If you don’t have a tent and you are passing through for a night or more, the stopover cabin is a new concept of economical and ecological accommodation ideal for cyclists and walkers looking for a location located on hiking routes. This cabin can accommodate two people and is equipped with Spartan but optimized comfort: light, electrical outlet, dining table, locked storage, a mattress of 140X190 and an opening on the roof to observe the stars. All for 15 euros per night!
