Holiday crowds on European roads expected again

The ANWB expects a lot of traffic on European roads today. Millions of holidaymakers travel to their destination and return home.

Traffic jams are expected around Paris and on the A6/A7, the Route du Soleil. Traffic jams are also expected at the Mont Blanc tunnel on the N205, on the border with Italy. In Italy itself it is busy on the A14 between Bologna and Rimini.

Germany

It is also expected to be busy in Germany, both in the north and in the south. The German travel organization ADAC reports that, among other things, many people are on their way to Italy and Croatia. There are also road works in hundreds of places that cause nuisance. Suspected bottlenecks include the A3 near Passau on the Austrian border, and the A5 around Karlsruhe.

Motorists can also expect traffic nuisance on the roads in Austria, including on the A10/A11, between Salzburg, Villach and the Slovenian border. In Switzerland, traffic jams must be taken into account on the A2 before the Gotthard tunnel. Furthermore, it will probably also be busy in Spain, both north and south.

The ANWB advises travelers who want to avoid the heaviest traffic to leave after 10 a.m. or to travel on Sunday.
