Severin Lüthi is no longer part of Holger Rune’s coaching team. The world number 7 from Denmark and Roger Federer’s long-time coach are working together again. After just over a month.
Rune’s mother and manager Aneke Rune made the separation public. “The timing with Severin was not optimal,” she told the Danish TV channel “TV 2 Sport”.

Holger needs a trainer who is always with him and a “super coach”. This refers to Boris Becker, who has been part of the 20-year-old’s coaching staff since October. Lüthi would not be able to cover a few weeks to give her son the necessary continuity.
The collaboration with Lüthi was only short-lived. On December 20th it became public that the 48-year-old from Bern, who was in charge of the Swiss Davis Cup team this week, would be hired.
