Elshinta.com – The Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemkes) held talk show or held a talk at the Jakarta International Velodrome, Jakarta, Sunday, discussing dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD), especially about 3M’s anticipatory steps and vaccination.

3M’s anticipatory steps include draining water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs, and recycling various items that have the potential to become breeding homes for the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which carries the dengue virus to humans.

“I think this event is very positive in providing awareness to the public, so that they understand that dengue fever is a serious problem that must be resolved together,” said the Director of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control (P2PM) of the Ministry of Health Imran Pambudi, who was also a speaker.

In his speech entitled “Healthy Yes, Dengue Fever No”, Imran also called for the importance of dengue vaccination which is now available in Indonesia and has been permitted for distribution by the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

“What I said was 3M plus vaccines. Starting from preventing burial, then recycling and others, plus vaccines. “This vaccine is a new innovation, and will only be permitted by BPOM at the end of 2022, as an effort to prevent dengue infection,” explained Imran.

He recommended that residents aged 6 to 45 years be able to get the dengue vaccination, which is now available at various health facilities.

Imran said that now the government, through the Ministry of Health, is conducting operational research on this vaccination so that it can later be turned into a national program, such as the COVID-19 vaccine for the next few years. According to data from the Ministry of Health in 2022, the incidence of dengue fever will reach a total of 143,184 cases. The province with the highest incidence of dengue fever was recorded in West Java with 36,500 cases. Then followed by East Java, Central Java, then North Sumatra.

“To date, the number of death cases as of August 2023, as many as 430 people have died due to dengue fever. For the number of cases to reach up to 60 thousand cases, we must be alert and educate the public about 3M and vaccination,” said Imran.
