Chelsea lost 2-4 to Arsenal on Wednesday in matchday 30 of the Premier League. Holder at the Blues, Romelu Lukaku was replaced (60th) while Albert Sambi Lokonga remained on the bench at the Gunners. On a ball lost by Arsenal in midfield, Lukaku lit the first fuse, but he crossed his shot too much in first intention (10th). Although the visitors entered the game better, the Gunners took the lead twice through Eddie Nketiah (13th, 0-1) and Emile Smith Rowe (27th, 1-2). Nevertheless, the Blues quickly restored equality through Timo Werner (17th, 1-1) and Cesar Azpilicueta (32nd, 2-2).
The second period started on the same pattern as the first with a double for Nketiah (57th, 2-3). Installed in the opposing camp, the Blues struggled to snatch the equalizer despite a big chance for Marcos Alonso (64th). While they did not manage to conclude a few supersonic counterattacks, the Gunners increased the mark from the penalty spot by Bukayo Saka (90th + 2nd, 2-4). In the standings, Chelsea is in 3rd place (62 points) and Arsenal is 5th (57 points).
At the same time, Leicester with Timothy Castagne and Youri Tielemans shared the stake 1-1 at Everton. Harvey Barnes (5th, 0-1) gave the Foxes the lead and Richarlison equalized for the Toffees (90th +2, 1-1). Leicester are in 9th place (41 points) and Everton are 17th (29 points).
With Christian Benteke on the bench, Crystal Palace lost 1-0 at Newcastle. Miguel Almiron’s goal (33rd, 1-0) put Newcastle (40 points, 11th) ahead of the Glazers (37 points, 14th).
