Hokky Caraka admitted that he had difficulty sleeping because he remembered his performance against Vietnam. Hokky hopes to understand because the match situation is different.
Vietnam vs Indonesia presented on the second matchday of Group D 2023 Asian Cup, at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Friday (19/1/2024). The Garuda squad won 1-0 through Asnawi Mangkualam’s single goal from the penalty spot in the first half.
This is Hokky’s first big match together Indonesian National team at senior level. The 19 year old player entered in the second half.
Hokky actually has several golden opportunities to bring Indonesia to double its advantage. However, he seemed unsettled so he made the wrong decision in the opponent’s penalty box.
Hokky admitted that his actions were not satisfactory. He even evaluated himself until he slept too late.
“Maybe I’m a little nervous, even though I often meet Vietnam. It’s just that the current situation is very different, so it’s normal to make mistakes and not be able to take advantage of some opportunities. Please understand. I will evaluate myself,” said Hokky in Al Egla, Saturday (20/1/ 2024).
“I was nervous and couldn’t sleep. I only went to sleep at 3 (in the morning) because I wanted to see how big my appetite was until I couldn’t take advantage of the opportunity,” he continued.
Indonesia next met Japan. Shin Tae-yong’s troops need points to get a ticket to the last 16.
“We had fun last night, now we have to focus on the next match,” Hokky Caraka confirm.
