Derby in the national football league. SV Hohentengen welcomes FC Mengen on Saturday (3:30 p.m., NMH-Gögestadion). The memories of the explosive first leg are still vivid, which the Black and Yellows won 2-1 and Hohentengen not only lost the game, but also lost two players with serious injuries: goalkeeper Adrian Heudorfer and Jan Koschmieder.
The loss of goalkeeper Adrian Heudorfer in particular still affects the Hohentengen team today. After an aerial duel, Heudorfer fell to the ground, crashed hard, dislocated his shoulder and tore all his ligaments. An operation followed, and on the 75th anniversary of SV Hohentengen, Heudorfer wore his arm in a supporting bandage and sling. To this day there is no thought of returning to the goal. And even after their last appearance so far, SV Hohentengen has to complain about a serious loss. Manuel Sommer was shown a yellow-red card last week and was suspended against FC Mengen. In Hohentengen’s opinion, this was a completely unjustified expulsion, which of course hurts the twelfth place in the table.
Nevertheless, Hohentengen’s player-coach Fabian Beckert is looking forward. The team trained well on Tuesday and Thursday. “We are excited and looking forward to the game,” says Beckert. “Of course Manuel Sommer is missing, Tim Irmler and Niklas Häberle are not there either. But we have 14 players and will probably add two players from the second team. Who… I have to see that.” Beckert doesn’t believe that the Mengers will notice the strain on Saturday after the game during the week. “They have had three days, have probably done enough in the regenerative area and are fit for the derby. They won’t have any after-effects,” says Beckert, who watched the second half against FC Albstadt.
Beckert is satisfied with the start of the second half of the season. “We got six points in four games. That’s fine. Of course there could have been one or two more points, but it’s okay. We are on target.”
Beckert noted that Menges is currently scoring very few goals. “I don’t think they’re creating too many chances at the moment, they usually only score one goal or it’s very close.” And that’s how Göge’s defense should hold up in the derby – that’s the first goal. “First of all, we don’t want to lose and at least get a point.”
Mario Slawig and his team certainly don’t want that either. The opening defeats against Ravensburg and in Ochsenhausen were followed by three wins (Harthausen, Straßberg, Sulmetingen) before there were two defeats (Laupheim, Albstadt). So the only consistency in black and yellow seems to be the absence of these. “The team has to be clear about where and how they can play into the spaces and gaps, and they just have to be patient from time to time,” says Slawig. Of course you have to take a certain risk in the final third. “But in the transition game we just make too many mistakes and make wrong decisions.”
Nevertheless, he didn’t want to deny the team’s commitment. “The fact is that the boys always played with commitment. He also rates the performances in the defeats against Ravensburg and Laupheim (“We would have deserved something in each case”) as good and also speaks of a committed performance against Albstadt. On the other hand, he was not satisfied with the performance in the win against Sulmetingen, for example.
Mario Slawig has to do without Ladislav Varady and the long-term injured Loris Teiber and Dominic Merk in Hohentengen. South American returnee Konrad Schaut is probably not an option either. “On the other hand, Jonas Renger is back and is available,” says Slawig, who – like his counterpart – wants a fair derby game.
