The Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy, which was originally scheduled for release in July, has announced a delay in release.

On the 13th, the Hogwarts Legacy official SNS announced the release date of the switch version on November 14th, which was delayed by about 4 months compared to the previous schedule. The specific reason for the delay is unknown, but the explanation, “We know that our fans are looking forward to playing on the Switch, and making the best experience possible is our top priority,” suggests that the optimization process took longer than expected.

Hogwarts Legacy was released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in February. At the time of release, Hogwarts Castle and its surroundings were highly praised for their detailed depiction of the vast fields, but the specifications were not that low. In fact, the PC version also suffered from optimization issues, although not very large.

The PS4 and Xbox One versions, the previous generation consoles, were only released on May 5, and in the case of the Nintendo Switch version, which has lower specifications than that, it is inevitable to put more effort into optimization. In fact, among fans, there were voices of concern about whether it would be possible to implement this level of game on the switch.

Meanwhile, Hogwarts Legacy recently recorded cumulative sales of 1 billion dollars (approximately 1.344 trillion Korean won). “The Hogwarts Legacy Switch version will be very important to future game sales,” said Warner Bros. Games CEO Jean Brian Perrett, and said that it will attract a large number of gamers, especially in the Japanese market.
