It was far from undeserved when Hoffenheim took the lead after just over a quarter of an hour of play. A well placed corner kick from Dennis Geiger was followed by Ermin Bicakcic’s hard but accurate header.
Seven minutes later Munas Dabbur made it 2-0 when he easily chipped the ball over Manuel Neuer in the Bayern cage and into goal after right-back Benjamin Pavard unlucky tackled the ball through to Hoffenheim’s Israeli striker.
Joshua Kimmich reduced for Bayen with a great shot after 35 minutes, but it was all about Hoffenheim on Sunday.
The home team continued to press in the second half, but a good Neuer kept Bayern in the game. Lewandowski came in just before the hour was played, but it was Hoffenheim who should score again when Andrej Kramaric put on to 3-1.
The same man could score his second goal of the day on a penalty kick in overtime. He put the ball safely in goal and completed the sabotage.
Håvard Nordtveit was not with Hoffenheim. He is out with a foot injury.
