In recent years, FC Bayern has been associated with absolute world stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The name Zlatan Ibrahimovic also circulated on Säbener Straße every now and then in the past. As it has now become known, the Munich team was actually on the Swedish top striker. According to Uli Hoeneß, however, the superstar was too expensive for Munich in the end.
At 39, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in the late autumn of his career, but the attacker still hits the assembly line. He has scored 15 goals in 15 games for AC Milan this season. Ibrahimovic also celebrated his comeback in the Swedish national team this week. Despite his high age as a footballer, an end to his career is still far from in sight.
The striker has already played for numerous top clubs such as FC Barcelona, Juventus Turin, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United. According to Uli Hoeneß, Bayern once seriously thought about luring Ibrahimovic to the German record champions.
“We didn’t even get to the main course”
The 69-year-old revealed to RTL that Munich was actually interested in the attacker some time ago. But when the Bayern bosses found out what Ibrahimovic deserves or wants to earn, the topic was quickly eaten: “He’s a great player, but his salary demands were also divine.” According to Hoeneß, there was no contact between Bayern and him : “We didn’t even get to the main course.”
Ibrahimovic is contractually bound to Milan until the end of the season. Whether and how things will go on with him afterwards is currently open. With a look at his form curve, it is not impossible that he will hang on for another year.
