Although nothing has been officially determined yet, it seems that big names could represent Canada and the United States at the next World Hockey Championship which will be presented in Finland.
According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets could see some of their players participate in the event.
“There is still uncertainty as the NHL season is not over yet, but there is a good chance that Nick Suzuki and Josh Anderson will represent Canada, same for Cole Caufield with the United States,” Dreger said Thursday.
“At the Winnipeg Jets, Pierre-Luc Dubois showed interest in representing Canada, while the Senators players were the most vocal about it. We are talking about Thomas Chabot, Drake Batherson, Connor Brown and maybe… Matt Murray. So the Canadian and American teams should have good rosters,” added Dreger.
Earlier this week, Carey Price mentioned he had no plans to attend the event. Suzuki had meanwhile said he would consider everything if he received a call.
The Canadiens will play their first World Hockey game on May 13 against Germany at 1 p.m. All of Canada’s games will be broadcast on RDS and RDS Direct.
