Göran Hermansson is dead at the age of 49 after a period of illness.
As mostly a center, he was among other things involved in winning SM gold with Brynäs in 1999.
– So tragic, he was so liked by everyone, says former teammate Ove Molin.
Göran Hermansson grew up in Falun and has a long ice hockey career behind him.
As a player, he became both Swedish champion and Norwegian champion, with Brynäs in 1999 and Sparta Sarpsborg in 2011, respectively.
In Sweden, he played elite series hockey for Djurgården, Brynäs, Björklöven and Leksand.
– Anders “Masken” Carlsson just told me that Göran is dead. I remember him from his time in Brynäs. A fantastic team player and great teammate, says Ove Molin.
– I played a season with him in Brynäs, a guy and teammate who is easy to remember. He was kind, considerate and always did his utmost without any complaints, says Tommy Sjödin.

– He was a fantastic person. One of the absolute best people I’ve known. Always happy and positive. He always arrived on time to the dressing room and spread joy and created a positive atmosphere. He felt secure in himself and thereby created security for others around him. He was incredibly loyal and trustworthy and always put the team before himself. He always came prepared, whether it was training or a match. Simply a trainer’s dream. He could play in all positions and situations. You knew what you were getting from him every time. – I just received the news, it is very tragic and our thoughts go out to the family. Göran Hermansson was a fantastic person and teammate. He was incredibly kind, warm with a big heart, and wickedly funny. We hung out a lot over the years in Leksand and you always felt good around him, says Niklas “Pajen” Persson.
– I remember him as the very best teammate. Positive, happy, caring, helpful and who always did his best for the team. He was also a fantastic father and my thoughts go out to his family, says Niklas Eriksson.

“A fantastic role model”
During the NHL lockout in 2004/2005, he participated and played a star-filled Leksand for the SHL.
In Björklöven, he formed a classic chain with Greg Parks and Aleksandrs “Sasja” Belavskis.
With his leadership qualities, he was captain both in Björklöven in the 2001/2002 season and Stjernen three seasons in 2011–2014.
– Incredibly sad. Göran Hermansson was a completely fantastic person both on and off the ice. Life is so damn unfair. Göran Hermansson was the teammate who worked the hardest, was the most positive and the most reliable of everyone I played with. A fantastic role model in every way. He was a one hundred percent team player who every day did everything to win and everything so that everyone would feel seen, heard and confirmed, says Jesper Jäger who played with him in Björklöven.
After his playing career, Göran Hermansson had coaching assignments in Stjernen, Comet Halden and Lions.
