Away from the final after the result of the match between Spain and France, Portugal closed the group stage of the European Hockey Championship with a 12-1 rout against Andorra.
The European runners-up won with goals from Gonçalo Alves (7m and 25m), João Rodrigues (23m, 25m and 42m), Diogo Rafael (11m and 47m), Vieirinha (14m), Rafa (40m and 42m) and Jorge Silva (45m and 50m). Andorra’s goal of honor was scored by Arnau Dilmé in the 11th minute.
Portugal finished this stage with the same ten points as Spain and France, but was left out of the final due to the tiebreaker criteria. Thus, the national team will play the game to award the third and fourth places next Saturday, at 17:00.
