“Hockey Player Talks World Cup and Friendly Matches in Australia”

Do you have any idea if you will be number one again?

I can’t say that yet. The road to the World Cup is long, we have a few games to go and anything can happen. But the championship is a challenge, a motivation to at least repeat last year’s result and we will try to make it even better.

Marek Langhamer and Šimon Hrubec are your partners so far. You formed a pair with the first one last year as well, you know Hrubec well.

That’s positive. Both are excellent goalkeepers and people. We have a good partnership, we know each other from previous seasons. I once met Šimon in Třebíč, which is now a bit nostalgic. We were with Mark for the whole championship last year. So I think it’s just a plus and it will work.

Both said that they will go to the championship calmly in the role of three. It’s a positive that there are no sharks, right?

We are the same. Nároďák and the World Cup itself are about team success, no one looks at personal statistics and level. Who will catch, will catch. Everyone else should wish him the best, then only we can succeed. I too will settle for any role. But of course everyone wants to be in the goal.

You catch enough in Arizona, you had 50 games in the season. What year was it?

I tried to focus mainly on myself and my performance. Then we try to win every game, even though we know that we don’t have a team as good as the best. But we were competitive and the season went beyond expectations. We caught a lot of teams by surprise, the year was more successful than last year. The goal is for us to improve every season and we are obviously on the right track.

By the way, before the start of the next season, you and the club will play friendly matches against the Kings in Melbourne, Australia. How are you looking forward?

This will be another great experience. There will be an excellent fan scene and it is a very nice opportunity to move hockey to a country where it is not perceived as much, because they have other sports in the foreground. It will be a wonderful opportunity for us players to get to know a country where I have never been, but it will also be very interesting from a hockey point of view.
