The Russian was selected by Montreal under the 38th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. In the current season, the Russian played 10 matches, in which he scored once and made an assist. The Russian spent the past season at the CSKA Continental Hockey League club, took part in 43 matches and scored seven assists. In 2019, as part of the army team, Romanov won the Gagarin Cup. He is also a two-time winner of the World Youth Championship (third in 2019, second in 2020).
