In a catch-up match, Lausanne struggled to beat Rapperswil 2-1 on penalties. The Vaudois resume 6th place in Lugano.
The Vaudois delivered a very slow game. They also cashed in the opening of the St. Welsh score while they were in numerical superiority. But the LHC’s power play in recent times has been like a museum of horrors. And on a bad pass from Holm, Jeffrey was bitten by the puck and Dünner was able to serve Casutt (37th).
The Lions had to wait until the 54th to raise their arms to the sky on a Bertschy equalization in an impossible angle. Moy found Nyffeler’s post late in the game and it all came down to penalties. The Vaud attackers were this time intractable by scoring thanks to Herren, Bertschy and Moy.
The Lions will once again be on deck Thursday evening with a Vernets derby against Geneva.
