Hockey Côte-Nord unveils its tournament schedule

Hockey Côte-Nord has unveiled the calendar of the various minor hockey tournaments of its associations for the 2021-2022 season. If COVID-19 does not upset the plans, it is in Haute-Côte-Nord, in Les Escoumins, that the first meeting will be held, from November 17 to 21, for the U13 teams (pee-wee).

Between now and 2022, the calendar will also include the Tournoi Jouzy de Port-Cartier for the U15 and U18 categories from November 24 to 28, as well as the Baie-Comeau minor hockey tournament, in two stages, from 1 to December 5 for the M11 and M13 and from December 8 to 12 for the M9, M15 and M18. For each of the categories, with the exception of M9, it will be in the single letter (A and B) and in the double letter (BB and AA).

In 2022, four tournaments are planned before the Regional Championships in Baie-Comeau from March 30 to April 3, that is, that of Forestville for the M9 and U11 from January 12 to 16, the Fer-O of Sept-Îles (multicategories) of the 19 to January 23, that of Minganie in Havre-Saint-Pierre from February 9 to 13 for the M11 and that of Mani-utenam for the M9 from February 2 to 6.

The Escoumins, Port-Cartier and Minganie tournaments are compulsory for the north-shore teams of each of the minor hockey associations in the region (with the exception of Fermont).

The hockey season in Quebec will be crowned with the holding of the Dodge Cup. The Côte-Nord will host two categories of the men’s section of the Provincial Championships, the BB peewee in Sept-Îles and the AA midget in Baie-Comeau from April 13 to 17.

“We still have a sword of Damocles (pandemic context), but we are confident of being able to hold the tournaments, especially with the vaccination passport in place,” said the president of Hockey Côte-Nord, Jean-Pierre Bérubé.
