The extra-league hockey club HC Slovan Bratislava acquired defender Marek Korenčík from HK Dukla Michalovce on loan until the end of the calendar year 2023. This is the club’s reaction to the injuries of defenders Michal Sersen and Snawn Lalonde. Slovan reported on the changes in the staff on social networks.
Korenčík came to Michaloviece before the ongoing 2023/2024 season after a four-year stint in the overseas NCAA university competition. He managed to play 4 matches for Michalovce in his first extra league season, in which he scored 1 goal, 2 assists and 2 minus points.
In addition to the departure of Korenčík, the Michalov team was also affected by three other absences. Defender Martin Bodák and forward Chase Pearson will miss the team for an undetermined amount of time and their health status will be assessed on a weekly basis. The club expects an even longer absence from striker Max Newton. After health problems, striker Adam Varga should jump into the “foxes” lineup, who will play in the Slovak Hockey League for Trebišov before his extra-league debut.
Slovan Bratislava realized Korenčík’s arrival after Sersen and Lalonde dropped out of the lineup. Sersen will soon undergo an examination, after which it will be clear whether he will be treated conservatively or surgically. Slovan will probably not appear in the lineup before Christmas.
Lalonde suffered an upper body injury in the recent match against Poprad and should be out for 2-3 weeks. The club expects his return after the November international break.
