The right-wing extremist of the AfD speaks in front of the town hall on Thursday. The alliance “Colorful instead of brown” expects 600 participants: inside the counter rally. Berliner Straße has to be closed, the town hall remains closed.
The flame, the memorial for the victims of National Socialism in front of the Offenbach town hall on Willy-Brandt-Platz, was already enclosed on Wednesday. Before this, candles, flowers and pictures of the victims remind of the racist attack in Hanau on February 19 a year ago, which were put down on the anniversary.
Right-wing extremist Björn Höcke wants to hold a rally at 2 p.m. at the invitation of the chairman of Alternative for Germany (AfD) in Offenbach, Christin Thüne, on Thursday. In addition to the spokesman for the Thuringian AfD, Heiko Scholz and Dimitri Schulz, members of the Hessian state parliament, are also invited. The AfD expects 150 participants. The rally originally announced for February 14th had been canceled by Thüne because the city had announced that it would close the town hall. So Höcke and his security guards could not have gone to the toilet, they could not have found a Dixi toilet in a hurry, justified Thüne.
Under the motto “Offenbach is colorful! There is no place here for agitators and racists ”, the alliance“ Bunt statt Braun ”has called for a counter-demonstration at 1.30 p.m. and is expecting 600 participants: inside Büsingpark and Berliner Straße. Because of the rallies, Berliner Straße between Marktplatz and Kaiserstraße will be closed. The town hall will also be closed from 9 a.m.
In addition, according to the regulatory office, a private person has registered another counter rally with 200 participants. “Robert Lambrou and Klaus Herrmann, the state spokesmen of the AfD Hessen, always claim that the Hessian state association is’ bourgeois-conservative”, “writes the Left in the Hessian state parliament. The planned event of the neo-fascist wing of the AfD in Offenbach shows very clearly that this is empty chatter.
Like the left, the Protestant Mirjam community sees a provocation in the fact that, of all places, in front of the memorial for the victims of fascism, “right-wing extremist ideas are to be spread”. On the other hand, a sign must be set in the form of bells and prayer, it says in the letter of the church council.
The police will be there with a large number. Last Saturday there was a protest against the AfD’s election stand on Aliceplatz. Also on this Saturday, the party wants to advertise there for itself. Incidentally, the AfD has not posted anywhere yet. The election program consists of only two pages and a bunch of keywords: “Practical education instead of gender gaga” or “No mass immigration” is what it says in it. She explained that Thüne invited Höcke of all people: “Most people cannot follow a Meuthen or a Weidel intellectually.”
