Hoch considers crown insulation obsolete – SWR Aktuell

The number of corona infections is also on the rise in Rhineland-Palatinate. Rhineland-Palatinate Health Minister Clemens Hoch (SPD) no longer considers the obligation to isolate people infected with corona to be up to date.

In the SWR, Hoch said that if all federal states agreed on this point, it could move away from the isolation requirement, as currently recommended by the Robert Koch Institute. “We should be treating Corona like a normal disease at the moment. If you’re sick, you’re sick, but if you’re just infected and have no other symptoms, you’re pretty much able to work.”

The SPD politician stressed that this also applies to the health system: “Even asymptomatic people who have tested positive can, with some additional protective measures, for example with an FFP2 mask, also take care of other infected people in the medical field and the sector nursing. Then both are infected and there is no additional risk “.

Virologist Plachter is quite reserved

Mainz virologist Bodo Plachter was more reluctant to abolish the requirement to isolate on SWR. “Basically, of course, anyone who is sick should stay home.” But now we have to wait and see how the situation evolves, says Plachter.

In hospitals, the situation is definitely returning to a climax. “This means that in some areas there could be discussions about lifting the isolation requirement. But letting the nurses or doctors actually work in the hospital with a positive outcome for the crown – I see that problematic,” Plachter said.

Hoch is once again promoting vaccination

Hoch appealed to the population, especially the over 60s and patients at risk, to get vaccinated. The best thing is a vaccination against Covid and at the same time against the flu. Vaccination centers and general practitioners still have many appointments available. Corona vaccine supply is currently significantly higher than demand.
