Not everyone feels like working behind the stove every day. In addition to the dishes from the caterer or take-away around the corner, meals are also offered via websites, apps and social media. Most new hobby chefs respect the rules of hygiene and pay a lot of attention to this. Yet it is often forgotten that one must register with the FASFC as an actor in the food chain, when it is not about occasional sales and not for profit. This is an important condition for those who carry out these types of activities.
When you prepare and sell food, you must be known to the FASFC. This is self-evident for restaurants, caterers and any other company active in the food chain. Hygiene conditions must be observed so that consumers are protected. Hobby chefs who regularly prepare meals at home and sell them to other people must also make themselves known to the FASFC. This permission is mandatory and the hobby chef therefore bears a responsibility and can be held liable in the event of food incidents.
