Typing errors? It says Paname. Panama would be right. Or? No, nothing there. “Paname”, the name of Hoarau’s first single (36), is the slang name for Paris. «Nobody says Paris here. Everyone says: Let’s go to Paname, ”says the man from Reunion Island. And the name actually comes from Panama, or rather from the famous Panama hat, which was also worn by the French workers who built the Panama Canal in the 19th century.

On the cover, Gui and his son Andrea lift the French Cup, while the Eiffel Tower is watching the goings-on in the background. Hoarau won this trophy with the PSG in 2010 thanks to a 1-0 final victory over Monaco. Extra goal scorer: Hoarau. «I could not find the photographer of the photo. This is how a designer traced the picture. »

«My personal thank you letter»
But the song itself is even better than the cover. An ode to Paris, um Paname. The way of life in the French metropolis. The Hoarau as much as Bern has grown fond of. “It is my personal thank you letter to Paname.” The style? A mixture of reggae, tropical sounds and French chanson. «Unpretentious. Light, fuzzy. Simply: cool, »says Gui.

“I had the idea for this song a year ago, and I also recorded a few passages with my cousin Ludovic,” recalls the top scorer. “A few weeks ago, a couple of guys from PSG Media wanted to know what I was doing as a former lockdown player. So I sent them a 30-second clip. The response was so positive that Ludovic told me: Come on, let’s get this thing over with. And so I’ve been in complete stress for the past few days. Training in the morning, music in the afternoon. » The song will be released on YouTube, Spotify, iTunes etc. on May 1st.

“I’m literally burning for football!”
The harbinger of the first album? «This lockdown primarily confirmed me in one thing: I’m literally burning for football! And because I’m still a 100 percent footballer, I still don’t have time for an entire album. Because that needs to be planned seriously. But the idea is clear. Just a little later. All in good time.”

Only nobody knows whether the time for football will come again soon. Hoarau’s contract expires on June 30 and would have to be extended by a good month to the beginning of August in order to end the season. Does he want that? «Nothing more than that! I really want to get the third title with the boys. I hope that YB makes this offer to me. »

«All pure coincidence …»
It was too early to talk about anything else. Quite different from France, where the fire is at the end. The championship was canceled and PSG was proclaimed master. The ninth title for Hoarau’s former club. On the same day, Hoarau announces the single release. Will the song become the PSG soundtrack for the Corona title? Hoarau: «Let’s see. I only know that absolutely nothing was planned. All pure coincidence … »
