This was stated by Le Hoang, vice president of the Vietnam Publishing Association and director of the company Calle de los Libros in Ho Chi Minh City, on the fifth anniversary of the creation of this cultural space.
According to Le Hoang, this is not only a place to buy, read and exchange books, but also a place where authors and publishers can find and share their works and develop activities aimed at spreading and promoting cultural identity and national traditions.
In those five years, the street received around 11.5 million visitors and its income from the sale of 3.5 million books, including more than 57 thousand new titles, amounted to eight million dollars, according to the electronic newspaper Nhan Dan.
Street activities have become more diversified with 1,194 events. Two official communication channels have been developed there, including the Facebook fan page and the Duong Sach channel. These media help readers to find information related to books and cultural products, helping to promote the habit of reading and the brand of the Street of Books from Ho Chi Minh City.
On the occasion of its fifth anniversary, the organizers carry out various activities from January 9 to 17, such as a seminar and a photographic exhibition on the history of the place in these five years. /.
