At MWC 2023, HMD Global announced three new smartphones and plans to manufacture 5G smartphones in Europe
HMD Global celebrates its annual technology event Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona by launching three smartphone newest. They are the Nokia G22 designed to be repaired in minutes, as well as two smartphone entry-level Nokia C32 and C22.
According to market research figures, the main cause of people changing smartphone is due to damage. In most cases it is caused by a faulty screen or battery. On the Nokia G22, HMD focused on building a device that is easy to repair yourself.
To replace the Nokia G22 battery, it only takes about five minutes with a simple tool viz SIM ejector, pick guitar and screwdriver. Meanwhile, to replace the screen, it will take approximately 20 minutes with a few additional tools.
HMD partnered with iFixit to provide tools, guides, and Nokia G22 parts such as battery, display, and port charging. Nokia reduced steps normally required in the repair process, such as heating the back cover to remove it and the need for alcohol to remove the battery.
The back cover on the Nokia G22 itself uses 100% recycled plastic and the packaging uses materials FSC Mix fully certified. Of course, for those who don’t dare to do the repairs themselves, users can also take the Nokia G22 with them service center nearest for repair.
Regarding the specifications, the Nokia G22 has a 6.52-inch HD + screen with refresh rate 90Hz and covered with protective glass Gorilla Glass 3. In the camera sector, there are three units behind with a 50MP main camera, 2MP with a lens macro2MP as depth sensorand an 8MP front camera.
The operating system runs Android 12, HMD promises two OS upgrades which means it’s sure to get Android 13, and three years of security updates. Kitchen spur rely chipset Unisoc T606 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and a 5,050 mAh battery with 20W fast charging. Prices start at €179 or around Rp.2.9 million.
Nokia C22 and C32
HMD Global also announced two devices C Series affordable, Nokia C32 and C22. Both share similar specifications, the main difference is that the Nokia C32’s design is more premium with layers of front and back glass, has a 50MP main camera, larger memory configuration, and a fingerprint sensor on the side.
The Nokia C32 and C22 both carry a 6.5-inch HD + screen, are powered by the Unisoc SC9863A chipset, have a 5,000 mAh battery with 10W charging, and run the Android 13 (Go Edition) operating system. HMD promises quarterly security updates for two years.
The Nokia C32 comes with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, and starts at €129 or Rp.2 million. Meanwhile, the Nokia C22 comes with 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and starts at €109 or Rp.1.7 million.
In addition to announcing three smartphone Recently, HMD Global also announced that they will manufacture Nokia 5G smartphones in Europe. The process is being carried out in stages starting in Q3 this year. The reason is HMD is seeing an increase in demand for smartphone Nokia is in Europe and views the move as a way to reduce its carbon footprint, as well as ensure the security and privacy of its devices.
