HMD Global Expands Affordable Nokia C Series

Rock solid and affordable: with that promise, HMD Global launches the Nokia C21 Plus and Nokia C2 2E in the lowest price range.

After HMD Global already two weeks ago announced new models within the Nokia G series (G11 on G21), it’s the turn of the C-series today. This is the basic level of the Nokia portfolio and with the C models, HMD Global is mainly targeting consumers who want to buy their first smartphone. The new Nokia C21 Plus and Nokia C2 2E build on that selling point: they offer a reliable basic package at a market price of less than 150 euros.

The focus on the budget segment seems to be doing HMD Global very well. The Finnish company saw its revenues from the sale of Nokia smartphones rise by 41% in 2021. It has been four years since HMD Global took over the licenses for Nokia smartphones. In 2021, the company achieved operational profitability in its annual balance sheet for the first time in its fledgling history.

Nokia C21 Plus & C2 2E

The Nokia C21 Plus is the new ‘top model’ within the budget series. It is built with durability, reliability and affordability in mind. The robust metal inner chassis with an IP52 rating offers protection against dirt, dust and water drops. A toughened cover glass protects the 6.5-inch HD+ display. The camera island houses a dual 13MP camera with built-in panorama and portrait modes. The battery has a capacity of 4000 mAh which leads to a battery life of two days on a single charge.

As far as software is concerned, HMD Global uses the now familiar recipe for the C21 Plus. A pure Android operating system with minimal presets gives users more space for their own apps and content. In addition, you can count on support for at least two years of security updates, which is more than decent for a device within this price range.

The Nokia C2 2E has the typical Scandinavian touch that has typified Nokia smartphones for years. The display measures 5.7” and is therefore aimed at users who prefer a smaller device. The cameras and the available memory (2/32 GB) are limited to the absolute minimum you need. You are again assured of two years of security updates.

Nokia Go Earbuds 2+

For the Nokia C21 Plus and C2 2E, HMD Global is also launching some new audio products, which also stick to an affordable basic formula:

  • Nokia Go Earbuds 2+ provide clear sound and high quality comfortable fit. The wireless earbuds offer environmental noise cancellation (ENC), are sweat and splash proof and offer up to 24 hours of playtime.
  • Nokia Wired & Wireless Headphones offer an over-ear foldable design with soft cushioning for added comfort and convenience for a seamless experience during work or play.

Prices and availability

The new Nokia C models will be available in Belgium from May: C21 Plus costs 199 euros and C2 2E 99 euros. From the same moment you will be able to purchase the Nokia Go Earbuds 2+ for 39 euros and the Wired/Wireless Headphones for 39/49 euros.
