The former bank becomes a museum – and the members of the Heimat- und Kulturkreis (HKK) Fußgönheim are busy at work. Since August last year, because of Corona in small groups and with caution. “But the whole team has already achieved a lot for this,” says HKK chairman Andreas Sprinzl. They renovate and sort, sift through and plan which exhibits can best be shown where and how – the association has over 10,000 exhibits. The aim is to make everything in the new rooms a little more airy, clearer, more modern than across the street in Halberg Castle, where the old home of the museum is located.
The post from Berlin, which has arrived at the HKK, will now help. Because the HKK receives federal funding for the redesign of the museum. The Bundestag member Torbjörn Kartes (CDU), who in addition to Ludwigshafen and Frankenthal also represents large parts of the Rhine-Palatinate district in Berlin, had drawn club boss Sprinzl’s attention to the corresponding funding program in March. Since then, both have been in close contact. After consulting with Agriculture Minister Julia Klöckner (CDU), Kartes can now confirm: The HKK will receive 14,309 euros. “So it was worth it that the association submitted a convincing application so quickly. Because the applications were examined and approved after the complete documents had been received, ”says Kartes.

According to Kartes, the emergency aid program, a two million euro federal funding program, is aimed specifically at museums in rural areas whose exhibitions deal with agriculture, food production, nutrition, horticulture, viticulture or fishing. The funds are provided by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and the House of State Minister for Culture Monika Grütters.
“I am very pleased that the modernization of the Agricultural Museum is on the right track, and I wish those responsible continued success for the project,” says Kartes. The HKK, with its museum in the baroque palace, is already a cultural authority in the Rhine-Palatinate district. Thanks to a comprehensive restructuring and modernization, the association is now able to increase the attractiveness of the agricultural museum. In addition to the rearrangement of the exhibits, the introduction of digitized tours is planned. The HKK also wants to increase the number of visitors and increase interest in the history of agriculture.
The funding decision is good news for the HKK, which has lost important events due to Corona, above all the Fußgönheim pre-Christmas and the popular Easter market. Therefore, another positive news is now also good: After a long Corona break, the association is allowed to reopen its museum. On Sunday, between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Corresponding hygiene rules apply.
