The hockey players of HK Spišská Nová Ves won the fifth semi-final match of the Tipos extraliga playoff over HC Košice 4:3 after extra time. In the series played for four victories, they took a 3:2 lead in the matches, and their progress to the final can be decided in the sixth meeting, which is on the program on Sunday from 18:00 h on the ice of Košice. Martin Bakoš scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute.

Spišiaci started actively from the beginning, but neither Majdan nor Bortňák took advantage of their chances. On the other side, Mikúš threatened, but both goalkeepers held their teams. In the 7th minute, Archambault made a solo escape, but he did not beat Janus. Shortly after that, the defense of the home team made a big mistake and Jokeľ sent Košice into the lead. The guests improved their movement, asserted themselves more prominently in the attacking zone, and in the 18th minute Lalonde confirmed it with a goal.
The home team reduced the score in the middle of the duel during the power play thanks to captain Rapáč. Jääskeläinen restored the two-goal lead to the “Steelmen” after 55 seconds of the third period. Spišiaci got back into the game in the 47th minute, when Bakoš beat Janus with a finish from the right circle. From then on, Wojnar’s men pushed for an equalizer and succeeded in doing so with a numerical advantage.
Kerbashian made it 3:3 with a backhand. The home team could have taken the lead for the first time shortly after that, but Bakoš was caught by Janus in a great chance. The duel went to extra time at 3:3. The home team rejoiced in the 75th minute after Majdan’s goal, but in the end, the accurate shot was ruled out for offside. After all, Spišiaci scored the decisive goal at the beginning of the second overtime, when Bakoš prevailed.
Before the match, the management of the home club presented striker Michael Vandas with a symbolic jersey because he had played 500 matches in the highest Slovak competition.
