Clinical trials have shown that this method of dual therapy injectable two months apart is as effective as daily medication. By being much less restrictive! This treatment, which has already existed for a year is now reimbursed (for 6 injections worth 7,600 euros).

Six injections per year, under two conditions

The conditions arehave had a controlled viral load for at least 6 months and not take certain antibiotics. The method will be as follows: initially (for the first 3 injections), the patient will have to go to the hospital. He will be injected into each buttock two molecules, antiretrovirals: rilpivirine and cabotegravir. Then, they can be administered by a registered nurse.

The aim is to improve the living conditions of patients, or at least to offer another option that may be more suitable for some: with less risk of forgetting tablets, to be able to move more freely without fear of running out. It should also limit the stigma that patients often experience.
