GRESIK – Located in the hall of the Gresik Class IIB State Detention Center, the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in East Java, a Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) screening activity has been carried out for inmates. This activity is an important step in efforts to early detect the possibility of HIV disease that may be suffered by inmates. Through this screening activity, it is hoped that early detection of the possibility of HIV infection in inmates can be detected. Thus, prevention, handling and treatment measures can be taken earlier, thus minimizing the risk of further spread and providing proper care for prisoners who need it.
As many as 200 inmates participated in this screening activity. The inmates underwent a series of tests carried out by a medical team consisting of 12 people from the Cerme Health Center and PKBI. In this screening process, the medical team uses an accurate and reliable method to detect any signs of HIV infection in each individual.
Responding to this activity, Anis Handoyo, Head of the Detention Service Sub-Section, expressed the importance of HIV screening. “Early detection of HIV is a very important effort for us in maintaining the health of inmates. By identifying the possibility of HIV infection quickly, we can provide appropriate treatment and minimize the risk of spreading disease in the detention environment,” said Anis.
He also added, “We are grateful to the medical team who took part in this screening activity. Collaboration with the Cerme Health Center and PKBI is very important in efforts to maintain the health of the inmates.”
This HIV screening activity is a form of the Gresik Detention Center’s commitment to providing good and healthy services for inmates. Steps like this are very important to maintain health and reduce the risk of disease spreading in detention centers.
Early detection of HIV is also in line with efforts to prevent the spread of other infectious diseases. With this screening activity, it is hoped that the spread of HIV in the Gresik Detention Center environment can be minimized, as well as providing awareness of the importance of health and prevention efforts that can be carried out by each individual.
