In the early 1980s, a mysterious illness suddenly appeared. There was no cure and the cause unknown. Until French scientist Luc Montagnier discovers that AIDS, as we know the disease today, is caused by the virus HIV. In 2008 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for this. Last night it was announced that Montagnier has passed away at the age of 89.
