HIV/AIDS Cases Rise, 133 Sufferers, Three Died

BOJONEGORO, Radar Bojonegoro – New HIV/AIDS cases during 2021 experienced an increase of around 30.3 percent compared to 2020. During 2021, the number of cases was 133 people with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). Meanwhile, in 2020 the total number of cases is 102 (PLWHA). Meanwhile, in 2021 it was reported that three people living with HIV had died. Meanwhile, in 2020 there were five people living with HIV who died.

Head of the Division (Head of) Disease Prevention and Management (P2P) Bojonegoro Health Office (Dinkes) Whenny Dyah Prajanti said that there was indeed an increase in new HIV/AIDS cases. However, early detection is running optimally. Because, of the 133 people living with HIV, only five people are in AIDS conditions, the remaining 128 people are living with HIV.

“Early detection is still carried out for pregnant women, people with tuberculosis (TB), people with sexually transmitted infections (STIs), hepatitis B, and key populations. So as much as possible it is detected while still in a condition of HIV, “he said.

Because when people are infected with HIV, they don’t feel anything in their bodies if they don’t have an HIV test. If the HIV sufferer does not receive treatment in the form of taking antiretroviral drug (ARV) therapy, within eight to ten years the HIV disease will turn into AIDS. When you have AIDS, the symptoms are acute and deadly.

Whenny added that this year’s HIV treatment service will be expanded to eight health centers and one hospital. However, Whenny has not been able to reveal which puskesmas, because they are still waiting for the regent’s decree (SK).

“Previously, HIV treatment services were at Sosodoro Djatikoesoemo Hospital, Kalitidu Health Center, and Baureno Health Center. This year it will be developed into eight health centers,” he added.
