TRIBUN-PAPUA.COM, SENTANI – Jayapura District Health Office noted that the cumulative cases of HIV-AIDS in the region increased by 200-300 cases per year.
Head of Health Service, Khairul Lie explained that from that figure only 60 percent of people with HIV-AIDS (PLWHA) were under his supervision.
“The remaining 40 percent is worrying because they are not under surveillance so they can become a source of spread,” he told Tribun-Papua.com, Thursday (12/1/2023).

Khairul explained that currently every health facility in Jayapur Regency have services to check HIV-AIDS.
When a patient is tested positive, he will be accompanied by a consular team who will provide an understanding of the risks of taking medication, including a complete health check.
The reason is, the drug will be taken for life.
His party confirmed that anti-viral drugs are available, free of charge and can be obtained at all health facility services in Jayapur Regency.
Even so, he said, returning to public awareness to check their health.
It cannot be denied that there is still discrimination that makes prospective patients feel embarrassed to be examined.
Furthermore, Indonesia has set EndingAIDS 2030 in tackling HIV-AIDS by setting a fast track in 2025 in an effort to stop HIV by targeting 95-95-95.
Khairul explained that 95-95-95 are three targets to be achieved towards the target of Ending AIDS.
Then 95 percent of people with HIV know their status, 95 percent of PLHIV get ARV treatment and 95 percent of PLHIV ON ARV where the HIV-AIDS virus is suppressed.
“The transmission of HIV disease compared to TB is more dangerous than TB. It’s transmitted through behavioral factors which if not practiced will not occur.”
“I hope from time to time we find better ones and hopefully they will remain under our supervision,” he explained.
