HIV-AIDS Cases Decline – Suara Cirebon

KOTA CIREBON, SC- The case of HIV/AIDS in 2021 tends to decrease from the previous year. This is expected to be a good start to launch the Cirebon ending HIV-AIDS program in 2030.

Secretary of the Cirebon City AIDS Commission (KPA), Sri Maryati said, until October 2021, the number of active HIV cases in Cirebon City reached 1,700 people. Of this number, only around 600 residents have a Cirebon City ID card.

The majority of people with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), Sri continued, are under KPA monitoring and supervision and have undergone routine treatment at designated health facilities. They have PR (homework, red) about 80 more people who do not want to proceed to treatment measures.

“The 80 people are being advocated to seek treatment and so that their condition does not worsen and does not infect others. Health services have also started to open themselves up to provide treatment to HIV/AIDS patients,” said Sri Maryati, after the declaration of Cirebon Ending AIDS 2030, at the Secretariat building, Thursday (28/10/2021).

According to him, the addition of positive cases of HIV detected earlier this year until October there were 46 cases. The number is relatively decreased when compared to the addition of new cases last year which reached 200.

This, Sri added, is expected to be a good start towards the Cirebon Ending AIDS 2030 program. Although Sri admits, one of the reasons for the small number of new cases being caught is the number of tests that have not taken place massively.

“Indeed, testing for HIV/AIDS has only been opened in the last few months, we have also just encouraged mobile visits. Hopefully more and more tests can be detected and localized the spread,” he said.

Therefore, through the declaration of the Cirebon Ending AIDS 2030 program, his party tries to bind the commitment of all stakeholders in dealing with HIV/AIDS in the city of Cirebon, so that the progress of its achievements is monitored regularly.

“Moreover, 2030 itself is not a long time, we must prepare ourselves so that in 2030 there will be no new cases of HIV and no deaths from AIDS,” he said.

Meanwhile, the activist of the West Java HIV AIDS Concerned Citizens Forum, Danial Ramadhania, explained that the prevention of HIV in West Java did not involve various elements.

“Pentahelix is encouraged for that, academia, sector apparatus and mass media. All components of the pentahelix can have a positive impact on the goal of ending AIDS 2030,” he said.

According to Danial, in West Java, HIV cases have reached 50,000 cases. According to him, when compared to the population of West Java, it is 0.1 percent.

“Therefore, it is necessary to commit all components to support the 2030 AIDS ending program, which has now become a West Java mission and a national mission,” he said. (Surya)
