Hitachi Rail Earns North American Transportation Transaction of the Year Award from IJ Global

Hitachi Rail has been awarded the prestigious “IJ Global’s (IJG) 2022 Transport Deal of the Year for North America” ​​in the light rail category. The award recognizes Hitachi Rail and consortium members for their role in securing the C$9 billion contract to deliver the Ontario Line MRSEM.

Hitachi Rail and Connect 6ix reached their financial close milestone in November 2022, ending a successful two-year procurement period supported by Infrastructure Ontario. Highlighting RSEM and Connect 6ixs planned delivery of a 15.6km fully driverless subway system with GoA4 level automation for Toronto using proven technologies. A high-frequency rapid transit service
With trains running every 90 seconds through the heart of Toronto, the Ontario line will serve nearly 400,000 daily riders and will be a major improvement in transit capacity and connectivity.
