Last summer, the country’s meteorological center recorded a temperature of 53 degrees Celsius in parts of Saudi Arabia, Al-Qahtani added.
According to him, unexpected rains also occurred in several areas south of the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
Therefore, he said, the country is expected to experience a drop in temperature during the winter.
Earlier this month, many provinces in the monarchy experienced moderate to heavy rains that triggered thunderstorms as Tropical Cyclone Shaheen hit Oman.
In January, the temperature in Saudi Arabia’s Asir province dropped to -2 degrees Celsius due to cold weather resulting in snowfall.
Snow also fell in January last year, turning most of the desert, including in the mountainous Tabuk area, northwest Saudi Arabia, into white from snow.
