NEW YORK — A 61-year-old Hispanic woman died Thursday morning after being hit by a car in Queens, New York City Police said. The driver fled the scene.
The woman, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after the accident that occurred at 6:45 a.m. on the 37th Avenue en Jackson Heights.
She was walking north on 90th Street when she tried to run for her life, but was struck by the speeding vehicle.
The driver was last seen fleeing southbound on 92nd Street from 37th Avenue.
Our Telemundo 47 helicopter captured images of the intense police presence at the scene during the morning. No further details were available about the driver of the SUV.
