Hit an Asteroid to Save Earth

Still remember the two Hollywood action science fiction action films entitled Deep Impact and Armageddon? The two films produced in 1998 are both about human efforts to destroy a large asteroid that is heading towards Earth and has the potential to destroy Earth.

Because it’s a movie, the story always has a happy ending. The asteroid was destroyed by a nuclear bomb explosion and the Earth and everything in it survived. That’s the plot in the movie. Now this plot is starting to be simulated to anticipate real events in the future. A similar scenario is prepared if one day there really is a threat of an asteroid hitting Earth.
