National Counter Terror Agency (BNPT) disclosed their affiliation Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes). with the Islamic State of Indonesia (SO). However, that affiliation occurred in the past and is a history.
“Affiliation is history, right? We can’t punish history. If my father has a problem, do I want to be punished? We can’t punish history,” said BNPT Head Komjen Rycko Amelza Dahniel at the JS Luwansa Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (5 /7/2023).
However, said Rycko, in the current context Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School is seen as using the existing legal system. He explained historically that Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School had an affiliation with NII.

“History shows that they (Al-Zaytun) had an affiliation (with the NII) at that time, but that is history,” he said.
For now, said Rycko, as long as the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School does not conflict with existing laws, of course there is no problem. Because, he said, Indonesia is a democratic country.
“As long as they don’t conflict with the rule of law, don’t teach about violence, let alone carry out acts of violence, including dealing with state ideology, of course there’s no problem,” he said.
For information, the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School is in the spotlight because of the issue of alleged blasphemy. There were even reports that there were allegations of criminal acts by individuals at the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School.
This Islamic boarding school was led by Panji Gumumilang. The series of controversies at the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School also made a number of parties urge that the Islamic boarding school be investigated. Panji Gumilang himself has been examined by Bareskrim Polri.
