Historical horror series 1899 discontinued after one season | Movies and series

The historical horror series 1899, which has been on Netflix since November, will stop after the first season. That’s what creator Baran bo Odar said on a Tuesday Message on Instagram.

“It is with heavy hearts that we must announce this 1899 will not have a sequel,” says the producer. “We would have loved to complete this journey with a second and a third season, as we did with Dark. But sometimes things don’t go as planned. That’s life.”

Jantje Friese and Bo Odar, formerly the successful German series Dark done, realize fans will be disappointed. “But we want to thank you all for this amazing adventure.”

1899 is set on a boat with European migrants, who come across a mysterious ship during a long sea voyage. The passengers end up in a nightmare when they find out what is happening on board the other vessel. A total of eight episodes were released.

Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, who plays the role of Krester, sadly reacts to the news via Twitter. Online now is one petition started, in the hope that the series will have a continuation.
