Dolce & Gabbana will abandon the use of natural furs in all its collections starting this year, the Italian fashion house announced in a joint statement with the animal rights organization Humane Society International, informs Reuters.
“The entire system in the fashion industry has an important role to play in social responsibility, which needs to be promoted and encouraged,” said Fedele Usai, D & G’s director of marketing and communications, writes Agerpres.
The Italian fashion house will make the transition to eco-friendly clothing and accessories, while continuing to work with fur masters to preserve their jobs and know-how.
Wanting to reach younger customers who are becoming more and more sensitive to ethics and environmental issues, many brands in the fashion industry have already announced that they will give up natural furs, including Armani, Kering, Prada, Valentino, Versace, Moncler and Yoox Net-a-Porter e-commerce platform.
