Next to the Pole in the Prema Orlen Team were the Swiss Louis Deletraz and the Italian debutant Lorenzo Colombo. The most important roles in the 24-hour race, however, fell to the Pole, who had the honor of starting and ending the competition. Saturday afternoon Kubica he made a great start and his team took the lead in the LMP2 class.
The Pole even jumped to the fifth place in the general classification. After the first series of pit stops, JOTA took the lead, namely Antonio Felix da Costa, who was two seconds ahead of Robert Kubica.
Throughout the race, the team Robert Kubica he can regret the punctured tire of Louis Deletraz the most. The driver was returning to the pit lane at a very slow pace and was losing more positions. Ultimately, the loss to the leaders at that time was 2.5 minutes.
A quiet finish of Kubica
Robert Kubica he got into the car not only at night, but also at the very end of the race, and this time he managed to avoid the drama we remember from a year ago. At that time, the Orlen WRT team was leading 3 minutes before the end of the 24-hour race, but in the end there was a breakdown in the car, which in dramatic circumstances took Kubica and his colleagues a victory. This time the last 2-hour run was relatively easy and the Polish driver managed to finish in position number 2.
In the end, Toyota was the first to cross the finish line with number 8. The podium was completed by the Glickenhaus # 709 team. For us, the second place of Robert Kubica is one of the greatest successes of Polish motorsport. Taking into account the entire race, Kubica, Louis Deletraz and Lorenzo Colombo finished 6th.
It is also worth noting that the Polish teams of Inter Europol Competition finally finished 13th and 14th in the LMP2.
Kubica partially avenged last year
A year ago Robert Kubica survived on the track Le Mans an unbelievable situation: his team was leading the last lap of the legendary 24-hour race, but the car stopped two and a half minutes before the finish line.
– It was never difficult for me to talk about it, it was just not easy for me even after a few weeks Live. I wondered why it hurt so much.
