Historic Milestone: Sajana Sajeev and Asha Shobhana Become First Malayali Women Selected for India’s Women’s World Cup Squad

Mumbai : Wayanad’s Sajana Sajeev and Thiruvananthapuram’s Asha Shobhana have made it to Team India’s Women’s World Cup squad. With this, both of them have the historic achievement of being the first Malayali women to get a place in the World Cup team.

Asha Shobhana replied that she is very happy to be selected for the World Cup team. I am very happy to have Malayalee star Sajnaya with me. Asha said that everyone’s prayers are needed and India’s biggest dream is to win the World Cup.

The team is led by Harmanpreet Kaur. Smriti Manthana is the vice-captain of the team. The other cast members are Shefali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Jemima Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, Yastika Bhatia, Pooja Vastrakar, Renuka Singh Thakur, Arundhati Reddy, Dayalan Hemalatha, Radha Yadav and Sheyanka Patil.

The World Cup will be held in the UAE from October 3. India’s first match is against New Zealand on the 4th. They face Pakistan on the 6th, Sri Lanka on the 9th and defending champions Australia on the 13th. The tournament was shifted to UAE due to security issues in Bangladesh.
