The famous Italian bridge Ponte dell’Industria, also known as ‘Iron Bridge’, was badly damaged by fire. The iron structure from 1863 is important to Rome because it connects two busy parts of the city. The mayor speaks of a disaster: “It is heartbreaking to see it so damaged.”
