Historic gold for dominant Dutch wheelchair basketball players

The Dutch wheelchair basketball players have won a historic gold medal in Tokyo. After silver in 1996 and four bronzes, gold was won in Tokyo for the first time.

China was convincingly sidelined 50-31 in the final. With the exception of the first quarter, the Netherlands dominated on all fronts and could celebrate early on. With the Paralympic title, the collection of titles is complete after the World Cup gold in 2018 and the European Championship gold in 2019.

In the group stage, the Netherlands had lost 38-45 to China and the Chinese also took the lead in the opening phase of the final. The Chinese team ended the first quarter with a 12-9 lead. But in the sequel, the Netherlands came back very strong.

Orange reverses match

That was in large part due to Bo Kramer, who was involved in ten of the twelve points in the second quarter, and the successful defensive tactics. The Netherlands pinned China, pressed the accelerator and went on and over to 21-14.
